- I really like that case provides a failsafe to protect against the risk of the rubber o-ring snapping and losing an expensive piece of electronics.The case works well but I have two complaints:1) The tether strap was not already installed through the hole in the case, so I had to try threading it through. It sounds easier than it is - it was really a PITA. I eventually needed a needle to push it through. It should come pre installed.2) Following a dirty gravel ride, the Garmin had lots of dirt all over. I was able to wipe away most, but I didn’t want to leave mud in the seams between the case and the Garmin, so I tried to take it off. Good luck. It is absolutely brutal trying to remove the case. I ended up needing to wedge a few small screwdrivers all the way around in order to work the case free. And the entire time I thought it was going to snap.But I’ll take these deficiencies in comparison to the peace of mind I get, knowing that if the o-ring (which is either, just on with little stretch if I used the large size o-ring or brutally over stretched if I use the small one) snaps, leaving a $400 piece of electronics to become road kill.Edit, I tried to take the case off again following another muddy ride. I realize this is just too difficult to do. I’ve changed my rating from a 4star to 3star.
