Waterproof GPS Active Antenna 28dB Gain, 3-5VDC, SMA
- This worked fine but the cord was too short. It would have been helpful to have the length measure posted in the description but maybe I missed it??
- This antenna took my iPhone service bars from 1/2 to 4 immediately when used with Verizons phone booster
- The products works as it should. I use it with a Raspberry pi 3B+ amateur radio project. I have serious concern over the quality of coax cable and the SMA connector though. they are of a cheap stamped crimp build and the crimp seems to be weak, as I already see a loosening of cable electrically when in use. I had to secure the cable to keep from moving and pulling completely loose. In my opinion this is to lightweight of coax cable for the device and at very least an insufficient connectorization/termination.I had concerns of the device working at all or being in one piece though when product arrived early of schedule date. The package had been pretty beat up and crushed leaving concern. After using this GPS puck for several months, I will stand by previous comments. I have two of these now. One for home and one for truck. Living in the desert has given me opportunity to test this under various environments. It went through icing, snow, rain, hail, and extreme heat. It is still working. The magnet is still holding.I am able to see roughly 14-17 of 24 satellite at most given times. This is connected to a DRAWS HAT for radio work.73, de KF6NFW
- Completely solved my problem with a poor quality antenna included with my GPS head unit.
- This is a fine unit. Seems like it would be water resistant (not going to test that!) and be fairly robust. Nice SMA connector. Pulls in signals very nicely. As a side note, this is NOT a dual band GNSS antenna. It will only pick up GPS and GLONASS not Galileo. It did not pretend do, so this is no fault of the unit. Dual band antennas tend to be much pricier.
- This antenna solved the problem I had with the stock aftermarket antenna. The original radio antenna that came with the radio did not work very well while installed on top of the dashboard of my Chevy Express van. So, I installed this one on the roof top. It now works great. My signal is always good.
- I have a (cheap) GPS module and three antennas:- a small ceramic antenna seems to be just plain non-working, even if I place it on a roof with a great sky visibility- a larger SIM39EA antenna that gets a fix within 3-5 minutes outdoors, but struggles to ever fix indoors- this SMA antenna. The module gets a fix on the sats within 5 seconds (!) from boot indoors and outdoors.Absolutely worth it.
