Minn Kota Adaptor Cable
- Satisfied
- Fits and works perfect
- I suppose the cable is fine, however it\'s only getting one star because of the absolute ineptness of Minn-Kota.I have a Minn-Kota Terrova with the built in transducer, not even 10 months old. I decided to install a basic Lowrance sonar this spring. Minn Kota\'s compatibility with basic sonars is minimal and now that Lowrance has discontinued many of its basic sonars it\'s very difficult to find a sonar that will work with my very expensive built-in trolling motor transducer.I finally find a Lowrance unit that supposedly works with my trolling motor. Order the unit, cover and this adapter cable. It all comes in just fine, until I unpack the unit. At some point Lowrance updated their unit and Minn-Kota never caught it. Instead of a 6 pin friction plug, the unit now has a 5 pin power plug and a 7 pin sonar plug. So this adapter cable will never work with it. I called Minn-Kota tech support and they were as lost as a blind rat in a dark room.I am now told I need to purchase the US2-10 cable for the sonar. So now I have to return the cable and search out the -10 cable. I am doing this locally to make sure it\'s the correct cable before I buy it, this is getting ridiculous; I say that because I\'ve already had to cancel one full order due to incompatibility with new sonars.A very poor showing on Minn-Kota\'s part. If they basically weren\'t the only game in town regarding trolling motors I\'d rip the whole thing off my boat and never utter the company name again. For what should have been a very simple transaction and install for a $130 sonar it\'s turning into a massive quest to hopefully piece this puzzle together.I know it sucks, but order/buy your sonar first, then see what connections it has and then order the adapter cable if you need it. Save yourself a ton of idiotic parts chasing because Minn-Kota is just flat out lazy.
- I am connecting from a Minn Kota Terrova 80 / i - Pilot 24V Trolling Motor with US2 and Foot Pedal to a Lowrance ELITE-4X HDI Fishfinder without Transducer . Although the Minn Kota web site lists MinnKota US2 Adaptor Cable Lowrance 6 Pin as the required cable, in fact the correct cable is this cable being reviewed (MKR-US2-10).I have contacted Minn Kota customer service and told them of the error. They indicate that they will correct the information on the web site (Universal Sonar Compatibility Chart). I have added a picture of the back of the Elite-4X for reference. This cable uses the blue connector in the picture. The cable I received was an OEM Minn Kota cable in Minn Kota packaging. The connector quality is high and it connected to MinnKota MKR-US2-11 Extension Cable for US2 Motors without issue. I am getting a good signal on my Lowrance fish finder, so everything seems to be working well together.
- Got this to connect my Lowrance Hook 5 to my Minnkota Fortrex that I bought used. At first I was getting feedback where my screen quit working when I hit the power button on the motor (not that this is a problem with this adapter and more with the trolling motor) but once I separated (rerouted/moved) the transducer cable from the motor power cables that problem stopped. Another way to say the same thing is the cable for the transducer is not laying and running right beside the trolling motor power cord. I have upgraded Lowrance units and this also works with my Hook 7 as well as my Hook 9 if I want to put it at the front of the boat. If your MinnKota has the factory built in transducer and your using Lowrance electronics this adapter gets my recommendation
- I purchased this cable based upon the Minn Kota web site \"Universal Sonar Compatibility Chart\". I am connecting from a Minn Kota Terrova 80 / i - Pilot 24V Trolling Motor with US2 and Foot Pedal to a Lowrance ELITE-4X HDI Fishfinder without Transducer . Although the Minn Kota web site lists this (MKR-US2-9) as the required cable, in fact the correct cable is MinnKota MKR-US2-10 US2 Lowrance Adapter Cable .I have contacted Minn Kota customer service and told them of the error. They indicate that they will correct their information. I gave the item 5-stars since the error seems to be with Minn Kota documentation and not the actual quality of the cable. It had a 5-star rating from others and I chose not to lower the average on a product that I could not use.I have added a picture of the back of the Elite-4X for reference.
- Works like it should. Would be 5 stars if they made the cable longer, although not really a knock on its functionality.
- Compatible with motor and depth finder but very hard to connect. Was concerned about damaging pins on Garmin unit. First one broke after a couple tripsLove my Garmin units but probably would go with Minn Kota factory compatibility if I had a do over
