- My bike (an Evelo Aurora Limited) is a fine Ebike, but the handlebar stem is angled forward 30 degrees to give it that upright, beach cruiser feel. That meant all the 90 degree or straight 180 degree Garmin mounts out there weren\'t going to work for my needs. I needed a mount that could angle in-between.My goal was to mount an Olight RN1200 (with a Garmin quarter twist lock) to my bike, but not directly on the handlebars, as it would put the light off center and that would bug me. Plus, I have other things I want to mount to the handlebars, and a headlight that twists off requires too much dedicated space.That said, I did try a fender mounting solution prior to finding this mount, but the light was too low, hard to operate the button, and the light was partially blocked by the fender/tire.The ability to dial in the exact angle for my headlight is what makes the Thinvik Bike Computer Mount the perfect choice for me. Plus where the light mounts now, is terrific! I can quickly activate the light button and it\'s up high enough to properly light up my path and let me be seen by oncoming traffic.Once I got my headlight properly aimed, I tightened down the T15 torx screw and not had any issue with movement in the weeks I\'ve had it installed. Granted, I did use a bit of red threadlocker (aka Loctite) on all the screws used, so that may be why.Some possible cons include the use of a torx headed screw over a hex headed screw, as it\'s not as common. The lack of any threadlocker compound on the included screws, and a lack of a spline pattern between the two mating surfaces, to minimise slip. None of these, were an issue for me.Overall, this is a great product for the price, and solved my issue brilliantly! Also, I thought it was great of them to include an extra Garmin mount, tools, and a GoPro mounted flashlight holder in the box!
- I bought this particular product because it provides an adjustable angle and a few small tools and 3 lengths of mounting bolts. My installation required the longest bolts which were around 5 mm longer than the middle length; the extra $7 cost than competing products was worth it. Note, these are M5 bolts. The instructions are bare-bones cartoons. There are actually 4 mounting options. The 2 obvious ones are either the top pair or the bottom pair of the handlebar clamp bolts. Removing the angle adjustment bolt, flipping the forward part of the mount and reassembling provides 2 more. I did a top pair flipped installation; the upward angle for a flipped installation is limited to around 14 degrees, but that was more than I needed. The bolts are steel, the mount and the 2 extension barrels are aluminum and the quarter-turn insert is plastic; 2 of the latter are provided. The Garmin quarter-turn insert is too large for this mount and the bolt center to center distances differ by about 0.9 mm so you can\'t mount the Garmin insert on the back side without drilling something. The supplied inserts are stamped GM (GarMin?) which some commenters have flagged as weak. It does seem less sturdy that the Garmin insert so I will use my Garmin\'s lanyard and do a pre-ride inspection for a while. One thing I did notice is that 2 of the holes on the forward end not used for the supplied insert are threaded. Why not thread all 4 holes and use that for Garmin units and ditch the GoPro bracket? The included tools are a combination torx and Phillips tool, and 4 mm and 1.5 mm Allen wrenches. A plastic fixture that fits the GoPro bracket and an elastic fastener was also in the package; it appears suitable for a flashlight. I withheld a star because of the scanty instructions, the incompatibility with the Garmin quarter-turn insert and the silver bolts; this mount is black, after all. I\'ll revisit this review after I get more riding time with this setup.
- The media could not be loaded. I wanted an angle adjustable Garmin style mount for a Magicshine Ray 2600 light. I also needed a snugger interface to prevent the light from jiggling around. This inexpensive, nicely made mount gives me both. The interface is extremely secure unlike my other mount. It also securely mounts my GoPro below. The Thinkvik mount is nicely made and all aluminum. It comes with very high quality mounting quality hardware. Included is a 4 mm hex wrench and a 4 mm Torx wrench.Some reviewers seem unfamiliar with this type of fastener and obviously had problems related to this slipping. The hardware included in my purchase includes the 4 mm torx wrench necessary to tighten this bolt. It is small enough to slip in a Jersey pocket to take along on the first few rides.
- This device works quite well holding my Garmin Edge 130 Plus.I do have two suggestions to make this device better. First is to offer several standoffs of differing lengths. I\'d prefer a standoff half the size of the one supplied. Second is to thread the base of all the holes that the Garmin holder attaches to. Only two of the four holes are threaded and if I were to remove the camera holder beneath the device, the Garmin holder will not mount correctly. Not sure if this is just a manufacturing defect or not but I had to buy two tiny nuts for the bolts so I could mount the Garmin vertically.
- Should have given more thought to the computer vibrations I saw early in the ride. When it did fail I caught a glimpse of my Hammerhead bouncing on the shoulder, under the guard rail, and into obscurity 😕
- 1 ride yesterday with this. I had my Garmin 510 and a very small Sony Action Cam underneath. I\'m very pleased with how tight the 510 snapped into place. I tightened all screws as tight as I could possibly get them. But every tiny crack in the road made it tilt forward just a bit. I kept grabbing it and pulling it back into place. On the 40 mile ride I probably had to adjust it 20 times. I\'ll go back and see if I can get another half turn on the screws without stripping them out. But I like the price so I\'m ok with it........ Update: I tightened the mount and it\'s now rock solid. No movement at all even on large potholes. I\'d buy it again for sure.
