  • I\'ve had several Garmin Vivosmart 4 trackers and liked them. I moved to a Vivosmart 5 because of the replaceable wrist band. As I see the differences:On the positive side:* can link it to phone so that you know who is calling* can get \'buzzed\' for text and call* seems to track activities a little better* recharges fast* can replace wrist bandsCons* I wish I could tailor what was displayed on the \'home\' display.* There are some things like weather that I just don\'t use. However, it is always displayed on the \'home\'.* On the \'home\' display only the time is large enough to read. The other items displayed are just too small to be practical.Would I buy it again? Probably, but only because I can replace the wrist band. Worn out wrist bands were the only reason I didn\'t buy another Vivosmart 4.
  • This tracker is a great upgrade to the Vivomsmart 4 in many ways. I can only think of one disadvantage for this tracker. The pros definitely outweigh the cons for this device.Pros:This tracker uses the charging cable similar to the Venu and other watches. I\'ve had these watches in the past and this charging system makes charging very easy because the cable fits into the connector in either direction, similar to a USB-C connection. The display on the tracker displays a lot more information than the VS4. This makes it much easier to see the data and metrics you\'re after when needed. The charge on the tracker lasts a long time. I can easily see it getting 7-9 days between charges, depending on energy saver settings.Having a physical button to stop activities is a major improvement over the VS4. You have to phyiscally press and hold the button to stop the activty. The VS4 had issues with haptic touch at times which made ending activities frustratiing. The physical button also makes it very easy to navigate through the tracker as needed.Having the option to change bands as needed is an awesome, long awaited feature for the Vivosport line. Being fixed to one band was frustrating because if it gets damaged or breaks, you had to replace the entire tracker. That is no longer the case with this tracker. You can easily swap bands out as needed, which will probably prolong the life of the tracker, as a whole.Con:The overall size of the tracker is a bigger than the VS4. I preferred the slim and smaller profile of the VS4 because I always wear a watch on my left wrist. Wearing the VS4 was great because it was sized like a bracelet. I have found that after-market bands for the VS5 do slim down the tracker. I\'m actually wearing a slimmer band now and I\'m much happier overall with the footprint of the tracker.Overall, I\'m impressed with the tracker and hope to use it for many years, trouble free. These Garmin trackers have a pretty good track record for dependability and reliability, so I hope that this one is no different.
  • My old Vivosmart HR finally gave up so I decided to upgrade to the newest version. I perform all of my synching and charging through a PC, so I was disappointed to find that getting an initial connection to Garmin Express was difficult. Several rounds of resetting the watch were required to get the initial synch. Also, in order to perform the initial setup of the display the Garmin Connect smartphone app is required. This is not documented in any location that I have found, so I removed a star. That should be disclosed to customers up front. Okay, so I installed the app, set up my watch and then immediately deleted the app.Since then, the watch has been great. It has a bright screen that is easy to read in all lighting conditions. The LEDs under the wrist strap are kinda bright at night, but that is something I have gotten used to with my previous watch. After the initial connection issues synching via PC has been completely trouble-free.
  • While we have grown used to devices not having manuals anymore this did not have even a Quick Start in the ziplock bag it was delivered in (which in onsense is good, this had the least packaging of anything ive ever bought) Having previously owned a Vivo smart HR I thought it would setup easily, but 6 years have gone by and the manufacturer\'s expectations about what the customer needs to do have increased as with everything else (who doesn\'t have to drag their giant garbage can out to the curb). I ramble on because I\'m an old geezer who still works in a tech field who has become more and more disillusioned about the benefits of tech vs. the constant aggravation that comes with it. I updated Garmin Express and plugged it in and synched it up. \"Hello\" is all I got followed by \"Go to the app to add your device\" I thought that\'s what I just did. Now I have to go to Garmin Connect, next thing you know it\'ll be telling me to go to the app store on my phone. Yup, gonna have take a nap. But at least it tells the time and shows battery capacity, though that is displayed more prominently than the time. Still, this has not been the worst experience of my life, night night.
  • With constant HR monitoring, periodic SPO2 monitoring, and a ~10 second timeout when I tap it, the battery lasts almost exactly a day. I’ve started charging it right after I wake up which works pretty well. The app is solid with two main complaints, it takes a while for the sleep to populate and the garmin to decide you’re awake (1-2 hours). Also if you take a nap outside of the main sleep window, it doesn’t automatically add it, it only reports the longest window you fell asleep for.Edit:I’ve had it for about a month now, the app is incredibly buggy, almost any settings you go to change just brings you to the same screen. Not a good buy.
