  • This is an improvement over the Garmin mount as the longer arm allows the Varia not to hit the seat clamp. As another reviewer said, this item does not include any thread locking compound. I strongly recommend you add some Locktite to keep if from coming loose. I found it slightly hard to install, mainly keeping the rubber piece in place while clamping
  • This is a reasonably well-made Varia mount. As other reviewers have noted, it\'s best to buy a slightly longer machine screw that can be capped off with a nylon lock nut and locktite.
  • Very study, fits really well, even though it’s kind of oblong, but it doesn’t move at all.Went over a bunch of speed bumps & it didn’t budge. Still plan on checking the screws & bolts over time, but did that on the Garmin one that broke when my carbon post slipped also. And as you can see from the pictures, it holds the Varia taillight well!
  • Nicely made unit. Not sleek looking if that matters to you. I cannot vouch for the garmin 1/4 turn adapter yet but it looks strong enough. I attach a lens cover leash to my Varia for insurance. One downside: the clamp shims are fussy to install because they are loose until the clamp is tight so they are easy to drop.Upside is the angle of the mount is adjustable, unlike the OEM version.
  • My Varia RTL515 mounts perfectly like it comes from garmin factory. Time will tell if the garmin mount will last the ever-changing weather here in north america. Great product I wish the inner clamp was made out off high grade pvc or rubber to absorb vibrations and would not scratch my carbon seat post.
  • Only a few rides so far but the clamp appears to be well made from aluminum and has enough of an extension so that the Varia can be mounted low on the seatpost, clear the seat collar, and thus provide more room for the seat bag. The quarter turn mount is made of plastic.edit 5/21- 6 months and a few hundred miles later this is holding up well on some very rough roads locally.
  • First, the good news. The clamp is solid aluminum as advertised. The not-so-good news is that the clamp bolts do not come with any threadlock or other means of preventing them from vibrating loose. After a ride today I discovered that the bolt that holds the light to the clamp had vanished miles up the road and the only thing that was keeping the light on the bike was a little friction and a lot of luck. Fortunately the fix for this problem was simple, as you can see in the photos I have posted. The picture on the left is the bracket as it was delivered, but blue loctite you can see on it was mine. When I took the clamp out of the bag neither of the bolts had any loctite on them, and the larger bolt was not even long enough to put a nut on. (Also note that the smaller clamp bolt goes into a blind socket and the only way to make it secure is with loctite.) The picture on the right is the same clamp with the new metric stainless steel bolt and stainless steel-nylon lock nut which cost me about $2.00 at the local hardware store. Now I have a good sturdy bracket that I can trust and my very expensive light won’t vibrate loose and will still be with me at the end of my ride. Other than this lack of what would be a cheap and easy manufacturing step, the bracket is well made, reasonably priced and probably worth the money. But be warned! If you buy this item, at the very least check both bolts for tightness every time you ride, or better yet, get some blue loctite on all the threads, or for the best solution, get yourself some hardware as shown in the right-hand picture for the big bolt and loctite the small bolt. Spend $2.00 now and save yourself the heartbreak of losing a $200 radar taillight. Fortunately ours was not lost, and I hope this review will help prevent anyone from having a bad experience. Lastly, if this item just had just come some sort of simple bolt retention, whether it was loctite or a longer bolt and lock nut, I would have given it a five-star review. Good luck and be safe out there!
  • Sure it\'s expensive for a mount. However, it has been rock solid and I\'m not wondering if my Varia has fallen off. The rubber band mount is actually decent but washboard has a tendency to move it out of position. No such problem with this mount.
