- I have an Insignia 2 camera dash cam whose suction cup literally melted during the 2022 Texas summer. Since they (Best Buy) don\'t sell replacement parts, I turned to Amazon and found this mounting system. It\'s pretty cool in that it comes with tons of adapter options, BUT the only one that actually fit in my camera was just a little too small and didn\'t actually hold onto it. I had to use a wad of tape between the mounting adapter and the hole in the camera to create enough friction to hold it together. I don\'t know if this will actually work over time but it seems to be holding for now. Otherwise, the suction cup is ok, it could probably be a little stickier as it took me several attempts to get it to actually stick to my windshield.
- Simple with simple modification. The suction cup worked with slight mod. I drilled a small hole3 in the back of the backup camera back and used a separate nut to fasten the backup camera to the cup screw.I removed the top thumb screw.
- This seems to be a great car mount; however, upon opening my package I noticed that the main screw that attaches the mount together is missing. It’s not your ordinary screw that would be easy to replace. It is literally a proprietary style screw that works hand-in-hand with this mount, and which makes it adjustable. I, unfortunately, will have to return it, but I will be requesting a replacement, as this appears to be used and is only missing that one component. Once I receive the new replacement I will update my review, but until then it seems to be a great sturdy mount with no suction adhesive, but superior suction, if you use it directly on glass or directly on a mounting pad.
- Suction was good on GLASS. Haven\'t tried elsewhere. It was cold and still stuck well. Wouldn\'t put anything heavy on it as it\'s mostly plastic and seems a bit flimsy, but for the price, it worked well for us.
- I need to find another mount for my Roav dash cam. The suction cup is stiff. I had a lot of problems getting it to stay stuck. The nearest adapter to fit needs a little piece of something to get it to hold tightly. But since the mount pops off the glass a tight fit on the adapter is the least of the problems. After flexing the suction cup. I finally got it to maintain suction. This mount holds the camera lower the the original mount. Now it’s staying up and I’ve wedged a piece of paper under the adapters lever it stays in place on the top of the camera.
- It seems built well and it stays attached to the windshield so far however I had to modify the mounting attachment so that I could attach it to my Aukey dash camera. The flange on it was to big so it needed to be filed down. The company contacted me and offered a refund for the trouble. They seem to have very good after sale service however the product did need to be modified in order to work.
- Only use it a few times but it does a good job of holding my GoPro.
- The suction is definitely strong enough. The mounting system is low profile (which is why I decided to try it). It comes with a plethora of cup-and-ball mounting accessories. So what’s the issue? Well, the cup-and-ball system of mine just could not be fastened tightly enough for my purposes (mounting a drone controller). No matter how hard I twisted the friction knob, it was fairly easy to just move whatever was attached to the ball side (even nothing) around. My situation requires that the system stay firm under a bit of bouncing around (on and off-road motorcycling). I didn’t even bother trying to put the drone controller on the setup — I knew it would fail.So it was not fit for my purpose, but it is a nice and inexpensive solution that most likely would be more than sufficient for any pocketable camera, phone, action camera, etc, etc. If the cup-and-ball mechanism could be made tighter then it would be even better.
