Garmin Montana 700 Series Suction Cup Mount with Speaker 010-12881-00
- This GPS holder is top quality. Very sturdy and works great. Love being able to charge my GPS while using it. Would purchase again.
- This is a fairly large mechanical mount, so if you pack it along for a flight to use in your rental car, it\'ll take a noticeably larger amount space than a smaller mount for something like a Nuvi, Driveluxe, etc. it\'s got a large enough suction cup, and a sturdy enough clamp and linkage that it keeps even the large and heavy Montana 700 hanging stable on the windshield. It\'s a powered mount, so you connect the USB cable to it, and it sends power both to your Montana via the gold pins on the side of it, as well as an amplified speaker inside the mount. Since the waterproof Montana can only beep, not speak, clipping it in this mount is the only way you\'ll get normal voice prompts for directions while you\'re driving, so you don\'t have to look at the display after a beep to know what it\'s telling you to do on your upcoming turns. The spring clip on the mount allows it to just snap in, and you push a button in, to release the spring clip and get it out of the mount. Since the release button is completely behind the GPS once it\'s mounted, you\'ll have to play with it a bit for how you reach back and squeeze that button without the GPS falling out the front of the mount and on to the floor without using 2 hands for the maneuver. After a couple of tries at how to do it, it can be done, but you may still want to use 2 hands for it anyway. For Iridium satellite communications (Inreach functionality), despite the instructions saying to only orient the 700\'s protruding Iridium antenna upright, I\'ve found that mounting it horizontally to the windshield has always still transmitted and received messages OK. It may not be optimal, but I prefer driving with the map horizontal in the car, and I\'ve had messages go through just fine that way, so vertical orientation appears to not always be required.
- I just purchased this product so i cannot vouch for long term use , but it works.A couple of things that might help. You can adjust the brightness by tapping the power button once. You can also edit the volume when the device is on the cradle. Tap once and a volume slide will appear. The suction power is really good so far. The cradle with an integrated speaker brings the 750 to life as it is the only way to get voice directions while driving.
- Does just what its supposed to, hold your GPS to your windshield as advertised. It even stayed stuck to the canopy of my fighter jet during an ejection at 400mph! No seriously it works.
