- I bought this as a replacement for one where the plastic securing the hinge on the suction mechanism cracked after a several months of sun exposure on my dash. Once the hinge broke the mount lost suction easily. It remains to be seen whether this dash mount will last any better than the first one.Unfortunately, a lot of the plastics used in manufacturing items uses in car accessories do not hold up to heat and sun exposure. Even plastics used by auto manufacturers for auto trim & accessories do not hold up very well to heat & sun.
