Garmin inReach Mini Dive Case
- This dive case/tether combo does not work together. The dive case was the primary reason I bought the combo. When I noticed a tether that would attach the dive case to my BCD, I thought that was great. However, the tether does not attach to the dive case. It attaches to the Garmin device itself, which prevents the Mini from being placed in the dive case. So kind of a crappy pairing. Will return the tether portion. The dive case feels very sturdy and well designed. The top red portion, by design, remains attached to the bottom, so if needed in the water, parts hopefully won’t be lost. There’s also a tiny tether inside the dive case, so the garmin mini can be removed from the case/activated and replaced without fear of losing any pieces/parts.
- I’m a diver and I will always from now on have my Inreach mini 2 with me as a result of this case. It’s extremely well made and seems very water tight. My goodness the price makes me cringe though. I have had several days of buyers remorse from buying this entire Garmin Inreach setup. However, after reading Garmin’s Inreach blog and all of the horror stories out there that could happen, you can’t put a price on saving your life. I tried doing some daily carrying with my Mini 2 without the case and it flops around and I fear will get banged up so I put it back in the case for daily carry. Then when diving I can attach it easily to my BC in case my friends decide they’ve had enough of me and leave me to the sharks.Just go ahead and get over the buyers remorse and get this case. You’ve already burned enough money on the device and the monthly pain in the rear service fee. What’s another $50 bucks…
- 40 miles in the backcountry and this case definitely protected my GARMIN! Would definitely recommend!
- As an avid SCUBA diver, I often find myself diving in locales where it is certainly possible to be lost at sea. I bought the Garmin inReach Mini to help me get recovered in such an unlikely event. Unfortunately, I also wanted a way to carry it with me underwater that was more secure than a doubled-up set of vacuum bags.Enter the official case. I can personally vouch for it! I just got back from a 4 day dive trip to the Eastern Fields, a remote location about 50 miles off the Papua New Guinea coast. I did 12 dives, as deep as 48 meters, and literally kept the case in my accessory bag the whole time (just doing visual inspections every day, thanks to the clear case).Verdict? It performs as advertised. The inReach was as dry as a bone when I pulled it out of the case.
- This case is barely bigger than the GPS unit itself. Use it to take with me everywhere and do not have to worry about care of the unit. Highly recommended.
- A most have for ocean water diving. I’ve never been forgotten on a dive charter, but if I am this will save my life. It definitely lowers my anxiety and give me peace of mind, which makes diving a lot more enjoyable.
- Despite its rating of 100 meters (330 ft), the dive case flooded when diving to only 130ft, less than half its rated depth.
